Objects From the Studio: This time we have this unique pair of scissors Takuma just got from Japan. After restoration and sharpening these appeared to be truly a one of a kind. These were made with just one piece of carbon steel in Japan, have no engraving on them, and they were made in Meiji era which is from 1868-1912. This U shaped scissors were the mainstream tool to cut materials back then, and it is said that Japan is one of the very few places that continued to use this U-shaped scissors commonly even after the invention of riveted or bolted scissors. It is truly a joy to find a lovely antique piece like this! #bespoke #bespoketailor #bespoketailoring #bespoketailoring✂️

Objects From the Studio: Today we have this collar box gifted to us by @daviddunkleyhat . A lovely leather box, it was a needful container for anyone wanting to travel with the near ubiquitous removable collars of the 19th to mid 20th century. Closed with a simple leather buckle and strap, and embossed initials “T.F.” Within are two starched linen collars, not original to the box. The first is made by Cluett, Peabody & Co., of Canada, Ltd in Kitchener Ontario and sold by Arrow in 1992. A practical height and fetching curved tips. The second, also starched linen, is a modern piece made by @darcyclothingmenswear in the UK. Very tall and very formal feeling, with straight edged tips. If you want a very clean, formal shirt with a vintage flair the removable collar could be for you! #bespoketailor #torontobespoke #removablecollar #historicaltailoring
